Last night

For all of those who missed last nights Dallas show you missed Colin singing, Keith playing BH, Oz undressing (already been done) and me dressed up as a woman (also already been done). We played Tool, Korn, Primus, Metallica (old school), then changed up and played some recent rap songs including Grills, In Da Club, Miss New Booty. So what I am trying to say is you didn't miss much...

Rules to live by

Here are some of my rules I try and live my life by, key word is "try":

Number 1 - Don't take yourself to seriously
Number 2 - If you cannot say something nice, don't say anything at all
Number 3 - Try honestly to see things from the other persons point of view
Number 4 - The difference between success and failure is sometimes inches
Number 5 - Don't be afraid to take risks
Number 6 - Do not settle for good strive for great

I actually try and go over these everyday so they will sink into my brain. See right there I violate Rule Number 1, people who don't take themselves seriously aren't concerned with rules. DAMMIT, I will never win....

Shirts Off

Lately we have been getting a lot of requests from our audience to take our shirts off. At first I was a little taken back by that, but I guess I now realize what everyone else has realized. Back when we started, we were doing a lot of drugs, eating a lot and sleeping till noon everyday, basically living the rock n roll lifestyle. We decided that now that we are over 30 we might actually live longer than we thought. It was time to start treating ourselves right. So we hired personal trainer and turned drugs into hugs. A love of our temples. I never really noticed how unfit we were and how fit we are now. Here are 2 pics that really show the difference. I just want to thank everyone for noticing our hard work!!!

This is monkeyshyne back many many years ago, when we were living the fast hard road of rock n roll

This is monkeyshyne now, it feels good to take care of ourselves. Hell maybe we should quit playing music and just become professional bodybuilders.

Heavy Metal is back!

Yes and that makes me happy. I was raised in the 80's and love hard rock and metal. Last night I went and saw Avenged Sevenfold. They have a song I totally dig called Bat Country. They sound very much like a mix between Iron Maiden with the singer of Faith No More. At the concert I mostly saw a lot of younger people like 14 to 18 types. I thought that was pretty kewl. Funny how music really does move in cycles. Hell I was jammin to this stuff when I was growing up and now it is back. I am convinced anytime now 70's acoustic rock will come back in style and guess who will be at the front of that wave, yep you guessed right Hootie and the Blowfish, but right behind them will definetly be monkeyshyne!!! Yes I can hardly wait...

A new look

Yes we now have a new looking website. I hope everyone likes it, of course I know some of you will not because it is change and change is usually never good, for some. Me I love change and think that the old dukey brown site was looking well like dookey. This one screams ROC N ROL with the black look. Think about it black is the new pink right...

Ok so most of you have figured out now that me leaving the band was a joke, it was all Colin's idea. Everytime we talk about creating some news for people to chew on he always brings up me quiting or getting kicked out. I don't know if that is really a dream for him...

This past weekend

This past weekend we played a wedding reception for Graham and Heather. There have been rumors of me leaving and/or me quitting the band, and to be honest that was all a joke or so I thought. Saturday SEVERAL times I was asked to go get Colin some punch or Oz some chapstick or Keith some baby powder while Graham jumped on stage and "jammed" with the band. They kept telling me "dude, Chris we are just 'jamming' with Graham, no worries". Then one time when I was in the bathroom taking a piss I overheard Colin and Keith in the stall talking about how sweet "it" was and how he could rock "it" so hard. Naturally I assumed they were talking about Graham "jamming" with them, although there were weird noises coming from that stall???

I will post some pictures of Graham "jamming" with the band and you can decide for yourself...

This is BULLSHIT, yes I said BULLSHIT...

If you have been keeping up with the blogs lately you will notice that Oz and Colin have said a couple of things and I feel I need to defend myself. The first picture comes from Colin's blog about a fight between Colin and I. The reporter Evan Drysdale (from the dallas morning news), caught a shot of Colin and I in what appears to be a fight.

This picture is actually is just me telling Colin what to do, which happens often. In this particular case he decided to "be funny" and try and imitate me (you know what they say imitation is the highest form of flattery). Don't worry he ended up getting on his knees later that night, as I told him to do...

Here is a pic from Oz's blog, stating that Oz and the band have decided to replace me because I am to "demanding" and "bossy". Though it is true that Graham will take my place, I CHOSE to leave to pursue a solo career. As an artist I need more "space" to grow and Oz, Colin and Keith are just holding me down with their "apopstic" rock style of music (acoustic and pop rock). Rest assured as Oz already stated Graham is a great heavy breather, something that monkeyshyne has been missing for a while.

For all of you that are Chris fans, please be on the lookout for my next band, "Darkk Evyl" starry me "Krystian Rawk"! Details coming soon...

I look soooooo kewl in leather!!!!

I really do look mean

I have been told that sometimes on stage I look a little mean, and when I got this picture I thought "DUDE, you look PISSED." I have had people even come up and tell me that they were afraid to look at me when I was on stage. This picture also cracks me up cause Oz is looking at me like "dude Chris are you alright, who pissed in your Cheerios." Maybe this spawns from deep rooted issues in my childhood and I have some kind of parent child issue that only Freud could only explain. Of course it could be because of too many Jaeger Bombs and I am just trying to see straight...Thanks Cliff for the pic...

A tribute to monkeyshyne

The other day I was checking the monkeyshyne email and I get this message from Nancy a great fan of ours, when I opened it she explained that he husband Terry wrote a song about monkeyshyne and I thought to myself "No way". I was just blown away that someone would take the time to write a song about us, I mean that is just a HUGE compliment. As a musician and songwriter I understand how much time and energy it takes to write a song and how much goes into it and it isn't a small task. Here is the song http://64.23.5.113/msrocks.mp3, I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Thanks Terry, Nancy, Chase and Chelsea, you guys are the ones that ROCK!!!

Rock N Roll

Here is a picture of me from about 10 years ago. Yah hard to believe I have that much hair. That was back when I was a true Rock N Roller. I laugh everytime I see this picture, and hope you do to...

A good weekend

I have to say I am proud of the monkeyshyne boys, both nights we pulled good crowds this past weekend and both nights we entertained um. Friday night we gave away Free CD's at the door and had about 200 to give away at the end of the night we had about 10 left, that isn't bad for a gig in Temple, Tx. And Saturday night I brought about 15 to give away. Usually after an acoustic performance in Deep Ellum I say "Hey if you want a free CD, come talk with one of us after the show" and no one ever does, this time I said that and before I could finish the sentence people were coming up to the stage and grabbing them and after that 15 went we had a whole lot more people come up and ask for them, wow feels good to know that we did good, and trust me that doesn't happen to often.
